Barenaked Ladies, the popular Canadian pop-rock group, will play at the black-tie charity preview event at the 2008 North American International Auto Show on Jan. 18, show promoters announced today.
The group is the latest in a long line of top celebrities to make an appearance at the show's fund-raising event each year.
"We're thrilled to have the Barenaked Ladies perform at Charity Preview; it promises to be a stand-out event," said Carl Galeana, senior co-chairman of the auto show, in a press release today. "We've also received word that some manufactures plan to feature some A-list celebrities, adding even more excitement and glamour to our gala than ever before."
In the past, such stars as Celine Dion, Jay Leno, Kevin Bacon, Kid Rock and Jeff Daniels have made appearances at the charity event.
Proceeds from the $400-per-ticket preview will go to local children charities in the Metro Detroit area. Tickets for the Cobo Center event can be purchased by calling 888-838-7500 or going online at http:// www.naias.com.
