auto tranny to 5 speed

I know this has been covered somewhat before, my question is this:
If the price of a built 46RE is around $2500, would it be cheaper to find a used NV3500 and swap it out?
What parts would I need besides: different flywheel w/pilot bearing, NV3500 (used), clutch w/ pressure plate & throw out bearing, pedal assembly (hopefully used), master & slave cylinder.
Will the PCM from an auto work with a manual?
Will the driveshaft length be the same?
Will the gearing be about the same?
Will cruise control still work?

any insight would be appreciated.
My tranny is doing fine as of now, but I know it will need a rebiuld eventually. And I love driving a 5 speed.
Just want to know if the costs are about the same.

can anybody atleast give me a ball park on what a NV 3500 runs?
I bought a truck with a 5 speed in it and now I don't have to worry about switching over.

You could have just bought a 5 speed truck, or you could trade the truck you have now for one with a 5 speed in it.

I'm here to tell you that a 5 speed truck isn't that much fun to drive. It's like a rowboat.

the reason I dont want to get a new truck is mine is paid for.
When i bought the truck I wanted an auto, but i was just comparing pricing between having the auto rebuilt or switching to a 5 speed.
