the 360 rt motor from what i know is the same as every other 360 placed in the durango. however, on a few years, they had a different pcm. all years have a "high flow" exhaust. that's where they get the extra power from. there is honostly really not that big of difference between an slt with a 360 and the rt

Stock R/T Durangos anf Dakotas have the exact same engine as every other 5.9. The 2000-early 01 Durango R/T's had 5 more HP due to a unique PCM. 01-03 has the SLT PCM and the same HP. As mentioned above, Mopar has heads that are called "R/T" for the Magnum engine but they are strictly aftermarket.

would you gain power if you switched to a 5.9 head on a 5.2 block?

ehh.. are they even compatible with different intake/exhaust valves? would there be a clearance issue? they 're the same block aren't they? maybe not. i'm not sure seeing as i have the 4.7, but they may be. I dont know if you'd gain more power. By the time you put those heads on, even if they did give a little more power. . . for the cost, you chould cam your 318 and have more power.

I don't think the 5.2L heads will fit on the 5.9L:
http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/spec_engines.aspx?modelid=3114&trimid=-1&src=VIP&tab=2&sub=1

The bore is wider by 0.9in and the stroke is 0.27in longer. If the bores were the same I'm sure the head would fit without any machining. Most engines are manufactuered with tolerances of 1/1000th of an inch. 0.09" is fairly large.

I doubt the 5.9L heads will give the 5.2L more power/performance. Magnum is the manufacturer of the heads on all the V8 engines. There is no difference except for the size (if ever so slight), to give any noticeable performance.

The R/T PCM also requires premium fuel!! Oh goodie.
