Within about two months I should be ready to go hunting for a new Ram. The
only thing that I would miss on the Ram would be a number keypad on the
outside of the driver's door to unlock the truck like I have on my F-150 Lariat
even though I always use my key fob to lock/unlock the truck.
It's too bad that Dodge doesn't offer that as an option because it does come
in handy at times. Wishful thinking.......
Anyway, I'm still learning all I can about the new 4G Ram so when I go to
the dealership I can at least be a little prepared. I read the 4G forums here
everyday to learn & get ideas. Lots of knowledgeable people on here. It's
a great help and I'm glad I joined DT. I plan to look for a Laramie 4X4 with all
options except the sunroof. I hope I can find one with the floor shift & Rambox.
But I can see it coming now....after I get it, my wife will drive it, and then
she will want one too! Sheesh......

Well, I've heard stories from people that have had other vehicles with
a sunroof and some of them said that they had a problem with it leaking
when it rains or after the vehicle is a few years old. I have never had
a vehicle with a sunroof so I don't have any experience with them.
So I figured to avoid a "possible" leak problem, leave the sunroof out.
Other than that, I think it would be cool to have one!

My sport is on order, everything but a sunroof. I was curious why you left it out, but you and I have the same reasoning.

Sunroofs can leak and would not be covered outside of the factory warranty, would not be covered by the extended warranty.

I also thought it could be a possible source of wind noise in the future. I have had then in the past and some are nicer then others ( depending on their size of the opening and how far forward their positioned) but overall because I am buying the truck, buying the max care lifetime warranty and plan on keeping it for my lifetime, I figured I would skip the sunroof.

My sentiments exactly. I plan on keeping the truck for a long time and I do not
want to chance anything like that. In fact, do a google search for "sunroof leaking".
Over 300,000 results.

I have always installed a Viper remote start/alarm so the keypad was never useful if the car was armed.

Even though I ordered my truck with a remote start, I'm going to install the Viper 5901. Love the 2way one mile range.

If I didn't go after market, then I can see where that would be useful.

I think we are all suffering from a little brand rivalry here.

I think the keypad, while it may not look great, is actually a good thing to have (at least if you remember the combo ). Its nice not to need to take your keys with you sometimes (going for a run, pickup game, running into a store when its cold so you can leave the truck running, but its locked also). Just leave wallet, keys, cell in the vehicle and just go out with nothing you're worried about getting stolen or whatever. Also helps if you lock your keys in the car, I wouldn't be worried about keeping an extra spare in my wallet if I had a keypad.

There hasn't been a significant design problem with a factory sunroof that contributes to leaking for years. You probably have the same chance of a FACTORY INSTALLED roof leaking as your back window or windshield.

The Aftermarket installations are the ones that are suspect.

Your probably right. I also did not know that they offered a Maxcare Lifetime Extended Warranty or I may have pulled the trigger on it.

I would have paid more attention to it on the test drive to see if I liked the position of it if I knew about the warranty.

Why everything but the sunroof?

I've owned several vehicles that had sunroofs. There are two things that influenced my decision to trade my 04 w 20+000 miles on the odometer. One was the lifetime warranty, the other was the sunroof. They were so rear, that after seeing one at my now defunct stealership, I bought it, and have never had any problems with it. There is no way I can go back not having one.
