What do you guys think about the front shaft ,diff, and axles turning all the time . I noticed this when I rotated my tires. My truck is an 04 2500, My previous truck was a 2000 1500 the front shaft did notturn until 4x4 was activated . I was kinda dissapointed to see all these parts turning all the time sure seems like a lot of restriction and wear for nothing. Remindes me of a74-79 model . Don't get me wrong I love ALL DODGES I've owned about 10 dodge 4x4's sure wish they would have left the front end more part time like the 2g trucks . WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?

Welcome,
I agree the DCX engineers could have done a better job on this. The drag on the powertrain can only lead to increased fuel consumption and wear on the driveline. I for one if Warn or Milemarker made a manual front hub lock for our trucks would fit them in a heartbeat. A lot of my previous 4X4's have had them and I find it very little effort to get out and lock/unlock them when needed. No sign of any one making them yet but if fuel prices stay high maybe a manufacturer either OEM or aftermarket will see a potential market for them.
Even if you just use this site as an information source it's by far and away the best of the Dodge related forums on the WWW.
