It just sprays on, then left for a while before bolting on.
It is primarily for reviving competition tyres which may get part used then left until the next summer or winter before use, don't know if it actually softens the compound of a new tyre.
Ya its Sipes.... they help with traction big time! and being from northern new brunswick.. you learn that small narrow tires are the key in the winter! so keep them tires aired up! .... chains.. studs.. self tapping screws... all work wonders also

My tires have a lot of sipes in them by design - but I think the problem is that the rubber is just too hard, especially when cold. I don't know if more siping would help or just ruin the tire.
Ideally, I should use snow tires (e.g., Blizzaks) however I only visit the mountains on the weekends - I don't drive there daily - so they would be wasted most of the time.
Goodyear has offered to inspect my tires and review my issue with their main office. Hopefully they can suggest a solution.

ive had Blizzaks before.. real great traction on ice and snow.. but for the price and life of them i would never buy them again. first season you can drive in anything without a problem.. second season they're garbage! they're just way too soft and once the roads clear up after the storms over the bare pave eats the shit out of them... i myself has gone back to Studded tires for more life out of them

People use sand bangs here too in the winter.. but make sure you tie them down really good some how... once they freeze theyll beat the shit out of your box if they arent
