Is there some sort of aftermarket kit that will allow me to add auto headlamps to an '02 Ram? That's one thing I really miss about my old Explorer. No, I don't have the dual zone climate controls so I can't do the "grind the post off" trick.

Thanks

If your talking about having the head lights come on when starting your car then yes, there are products out there that will do that. Or there used to be. I did the same thing on a vehicle I owned about eight years ago.

I think he's talking about a true auto headlight system, like my fiance's Maxima has. When it gets dark, they turn on. Light sensor in the dash activates it. I am interested in the same thing, I haven't looked into it much, google may turn something up. If I find something I'll post back here.

well i think its cool because i know in some states if you turn on your wipers(for any reason like cleaning off the windsheild)you have to turn on your headlights. a fried of mine got pulled ofer for the above incident.

free lantz i live in tx too (well right now anyway) but in lousiana its law to have them on its usually not enforced. one of those that they add on when you have allready been pulled over. sort of like a seat belt law(yes i know tx is cracking down on that one now)

Any drawbacks to just leaving the light switch always on and letting the 5min timer turn them off after you get out? After having auto headlights in our cars since 93, I forget to turn them off EVERY time. And the fact that they stay on for a minute when you do remember to turn them off doesnt help to train my brain.

Would five minutes of headlight running after killing the engine have any adverse effects on my battery?

I am pretty sure that law is only if it is raining. If it is raining you must have both wipers and headlights on. I think most states are this way as well.

As far as seat belts in LA.....that was the case until lately. The law is now so that you can be pulled over specifically for not wearing a seatbelt. The fine is higher than carrying some narcotics. You dont even have to be speeding, though most cops do not want to waste the time writing a seat belt ticket.

I think as far as add on laws go, the only one to really worry about is for packing drugs or ammo. Louisiana, and many other states, actually have tax stamps on marijauna. Once you are busted, they can tack on tax evasion and other charges for not paying the proper taxes. Pretty funny.
