Since our controls are electric and not cable driven would it be possible to take the dual zone controls out of a Laramie and put them in an SLT?

It's not only the controls that are different between the two systems. The HVAC housings are also different. In order to swap that out, you have to take out the entire dash, drain all the coolant, and evacuate the AC. Big job, not for the faint of heart, and also extremely expensive.

Do you know this for a fact? I tried to find the different part numbers but can only find different part numbers for the control unit as listed below:

DASH CONTROL UNIT, Ram 1500, w/o AC, All

DASH CONTROL UNIT, Ram 1500, w/AC, w/o Dual Zone Control, w/o Power Mirrors

DASH CONTROL UNIT, Ram 1500, w/AC, w/o Dual Zone Control, w/Power Mirrors

DASH CONTROL UNIT, Ram 1500, w/AC, w/Dual Zone Control

If you have the tech manual for your truck, you'd be able to figure out what's involved. But yes, it is a fact. Dual zone systems have an HVAC box with two blend doors, one for each side of the cab. Single zone systems have an HVAC box with one blend door.

Ah, I see the light now. I was hoping that Dodge was cheap and used the same HVAC for both and just changed out the controls.
