Help please!!!!
My ABS and brakelight came on, after awhile the speedometer quit working until you got to 20mph or so. After hundreds more miles, the checkengine light came on and the speedometer wont work until you get over 60 (bad for school zones). Anyway, the check engine code says it is the vehicle speed sensor, I replaced it with a new one, 10 miles later the light came back on. (I reset it with a computer) It read the same code,
so I replaced the throtle position sensor. Reset the code and 10 miles later came back on with the same code. This is where I am now. I believe the abs sensors are the cause of all this, what I need to know is anybodys opinion first of all,
then, where are the sensors, how many are there, how do I change them, will I have to get the codes read at the Dodge place to reset the abs codes, and anything else of intrest. Thanks a bunch, my wife won't drive it anymore and I really need help.
The van only has 58k on it.
PS,,,,,,it is a 1998 Dodge B1500 conversion van with a 318 cui.
Thanks............

Read my post below in the thread "clarification......." here is your problem and the part you need.
That speed sensor on the top of the differential was the problem. $38.52 plus tax, only to found at a Dodge dealer.
If anyone else has the same problem, the MOPAR part number is 5602818AE.

Keep in mind that this part number was for 1999 1500 4X4 5.9L.

But it may be the same one. If you give the dealer that part number, he can cross-check it to your vehicle.

We had the same problem, brake light, abs light, check engine light on speedometer and odometer not working, we bought the speed sensor for the rear and put it in and the lights went off but the speedometer and odometer still does not work. Any suggestions?

confounded by the ABS

I am having a problem, both the ABS and the brake light are on but the odometer and the speedometer are working. I have a 1999 Ram 1500 2 wheel drive. The problem occurred about a week after replacing the front rotors. Can anybody help?

I had this problem on my 2004 Ram less than a month ago. My ABS and Check Engine light were both on, but my speedometer would work. 2 days before these lights came on I got a speeding ticket. Got both my speed sensors replaced, lights went off, and got my ticket dismissed.
