Hello all, new here

I own a ‘95 Dakota with a from the factory 3.9 magnum. Long story short transmission is dying and frame is shot but I love the truck and want to rebuild it from a rolling frame. But I want to switch the engine for a 5.2 magnum because it was also put in those Dakotas’ and I need more power. But I was thinking maybe putting a 5.9 magnum instead because theoretically the engine should be a little a little taller? I haven’t done a ton of research on the topic and would like some outside thoughts and experiences. Thank you in advance.

No it isn't taller lol. The 3.9 is a 5.2/318 minus 2 cylinders. The 5.9/360 has more stroke but externally is the same size. What you will have to figure out is a PCM/tuning as the 5.9/360 wasn't available in the 1st gen as I recall.
