Hi,

I have a 98 Ram 1500 4x4 5.2L automatic with 150,000 miles. It has 2 issues. Im not sure if they are related.

1) The truck literally "bucks" sometimes when accelerating through 45 mph ?? Once I hit 50-55mph no issues.

2) Following cold starts in the morning the motor runs rough, hesitates/sputters abit. After driving a few minutes, engine smoothes out.

Any advice on how to correct these issues would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Ken

Do a tune up(cap/rotor plugs wires) wouldn't hurt to clean the throttle body either. Was your plenum replaced?

I replaced distributor cap/rotor, plugs, and wires and that seems to have stopped the issue. So thank you Moparite. I found that getting to the distributor cap was a real PITA even with taking the air box off. Very hard to see anything back in there.

thanks,
Ken
