Hi Guys,

I want to know if there is any way to make a standalone efi system like Fast ez efi work with a 46RH trans.

I have a 95 360 odb1 and I want to do a top end package with a SB HYD RLR CAM 208/214 -110ºLSA but I am worried about tuneing. The new efi system would work but whats involved with the transmission.

Thanks

Very limited info on the fast web site. Looks to be just for engine(efi) management. Looks like you need a new intake to run it also. $1800 is lot! I would swap in an OBD2 pcm and wiring harness if needed.

Can I use the ez-efi and leave in the stock computer?

I was told that since the computer thinks that the engine is not running the trans would not work?

Im not huge into tuneing. mostly carb exp. The self tuning models appeal to me.

Not sure about the OBD1's but i think the pcm controls everything. No lockup down shift etc... I don't see how the pcm is going to know what the rpm is(to control the trans) if it's not hooked up. I was going to suggest the mega squirt but i think that's manual tune.

ODB1 computer only controls the lockup and OD in a 46RH trans three wires in. It has hydrolic controlled governor pressure.

In a 46RE trans the computer controls the shift points ect.

I guess the question that I need to answer is will one of these self learning EFI systems (fast, holley, eddy ect) and the ODB1 computer work independently. If I unplug the the engine sensors and set up an aftermarket self learning fuel, air spark system, will the computer still tell the transmission to shift? Or will is say to itself... self engine is not running... how can I shift gears if im not moving. Or will it say... I have the right hydrolic pressure to go into OD... so lets go.

I dont know much about computers or EFI, How would the MegaSquirt EFI work? Wont I still have a problem with the trans?

A guy at huges has fwd me to someone that can tune an odb1 comp, problem is I dont want to re tune every time I change something.

Thanks for your help, there is not alot of info out there or it seems not a lot of people are interested in keeping these trucks going. Im sure there is someone out there that enjoys their 94-95 as much as I do lol.

I do have a 318 46RE trans and complete wiring harness.

One option I guess is to swap the intake from the 318 onto my 360 and swap out RE trans. Then I would run odb2 and a sct tuner. But what a pain..... The 46RE trans is cooked and I dont even know whats involved in an odb1 to odb2 swap.

Any other Ideas are appreciated. Im stumped here.

I believe someone did this swap a few years ago. Not sure whats all involved. I would think the OBD2 swap would be the cheapest and there would be no need for two controllers. You may be able to swap the valve body form the 46RE to the 46RH to run the tranz with the OBD2 pcm. ??? I would contact fast man and see if he can help you out.
