Hey Folks,
My 92 5.2l Dakota has the check engine light on. Hard to start, stalling & surging.
I installed a new ECM, throttle body gasket, a newly tuned up and a new fuel filter.
The issues disappeared then today right back to the problems mentioned. Any help is appreciated!

How long ago did you throw the parts at it ?whats newly tuned up mean , spell it out for us . How long did these parts make it better ? Have you done the key flip to check for codes ? If so what are they ?

Hey Vern14,
The tune up was right around the first of the year, the ECM this weekend as well as the throttle body gasket. The resetting of the ECM and cleaning of the IAC was today.
The new parts had it running great all weekend and yesterday in all types of traffic. This morning is when it acted up again.
I didn't do the key flip for codes but I did disconnect the battery, turned the key for 20sec. and did the reset on the ECM by pulling the main plug for 5 min and then plugged it back in.
No luck with any of it.
It's odd as I keep this engine tight and maintained. It's rarely given me trouble that wasn't an easy fix.

Get a new throttle position sensor and idle air control valve. I had a similar issue and my transmission kept shifting in and out of overdrive because the throttle sensor kept telling the ecu I was flooring it. Those two parts fixed everything. I tried cleaning my IAC and it worked for a day and went back to being messed up, so I got a new one and no issues. Just make sure your electrical harness will plug into your new parts.

Funny, that was my next move! Thanks!

I'll try that next.
I do know that when this all started I was about to fill up at the pump and noticed the "dust flap" in the fuel fill port was bent out of place which was never the case in the past.
So I'm wondering if someone messed with my fuel and I'm dealing with dirty gas?
All the symptoms would point to that being the case.

You need to pull the throttle and intake manifold and clean EGR passages, and all carbon from the throttle body. worked for me
