Replaced the fuel pump on 89 Ramcharger 318 TBI. The new pump only runs for a few seconds each time the ignition is turned on, just like the old one, only now the engine will not start and appears to be not getting fuel. Is there a way to prime the system?

replaced the fuel pump on my 88 it fired right up/ plugged filter maybe?

If the pump is shutting off then it has built the pressure that it is supossed to. If the pressure isn't making it to the injectors then you most likely have blockage somewhere.

We removed the tank once again, and found that the new pump was not mounted in the sending unit properly, hence it wasn't picking up fuel. Put
the pump in correctly, and it now works fine. Hard lesson to learn. Thanks to all that responded with advice.
