I am wanting to do a cam swap on my engine. I'm currently driving and 88 D100. What is the biggest cam size i can go with out having to change the valve springs? Also, what is the complete maximum size of cam that i can go with the 3.9? Thanks for the Help.
Myself cannot help , just know that Hughes Engines has Dodge hi-perf stuff ("guessing" LA V6 stuff is rare).
... "IF" they're available higher ratio rockers may help (stock LA are shaft mounted, 1.5 to 1).
... Early LA had flat cam, 88 was first year LA had roller cam; just to be sure, the block casting and stamped engine numbers may help determine what type cam/lifters it has.
No idea whats even available for them. I did a quick summit search and no cams came up. Might have to do some searching for that. Sounds like what you are looking for is a race cam. Even if it is available i'm sure parts will be limited. If you are looking for power put v8 in it!
I'd hunt some 1.6 rockers & bump the lift up. You still have to worry about the parameters of the computer
