Whassup fellas.
This question is to all who have gone the way of he beoved 6.1 cam..
I have one sitting in my living room as of last week. My question is, what does it do to the idle characteristics? I am not running a superchips programer, just a Hypertech PPIII, and would hate it if I put this mad boy in, and my truck cant find an idle..I am hoping for a smooth silky idle, with just a little more funk in it, but not a "searching" for idle if you know what I mean...
I have read many posts about some trucks running the 6.1 and loving it, but no one is talking about idle..
So hows my 05 gonna idle when I do the swap?
Like factory but funkier, or like crap and work great from 3k on up?

It will idle fine just with a very slight lope...wump wump wump wump. Definitely more muscular, but not at all racey.

Well my idle has always been a little rough, at least since I installed the headers, so to me it really hasn't changed.

Describe your def. or rough..
Rough like truck shakes a little, but tach stays steady, or rough like tack moves up and down 500 rpm consistently?

More like a sporatic slight miss, but it stays pretty steady at 600 RPM's. I drive mine HARD and I've noticed that when I do it idles a little rough, and when I drive like a girl it pretty smooth.....

Whats so weird with my current setup, after the install of he srt-10 dual in dual out muffler, I get a constant idle of 500 rpm's even and steady after she is warm.
She idled higher than that prior to he install of it.
I am hoping that my exhaust combo dosent become a prob...

This engine has a ton of potential..{HEMI}
I would love to see one with just stand alone engine management.
I have an Accel Gen VII on my Cobra and it allows for anything.
{Funny, cause I have a Tunnel ram on my 331ci 95 GT with 2 Holley 4150's on it...}
I like injection and Carbs, but Carbs are cheaper if you know how to tun'em right.
I'm tired of spending money..
Wish I could just throw a Dominator on the Hemi truck...

...mine idles just fine as well...it makes a glub glub glub glub glub...sounds agressive but doesn't have that lopey feel of the more aggressive cams we've seen...

my truck almost died at idle today after i was beating the snot out of her, but normally idles at 600......does have no physical lope to it, but exhaust note sounds great at idle very deep wuh wuh wuh wuh and wot makes me wish i had a pair of diapers on! 6.1 cams are great...i DO NOT KNOW WHY I WAITED so long to get and install one

So the cam prob next weekend...
I will holler at you so you can come take a cruise and listen a litle..
Mabye then I will have my Cold Fusion Nitrous on Shaft {My trucks name, its big and black and strong}{smile}
Im thinking about a 150 will wake her up..!
