i have a 99 5.2L "D" when i put it into 4 wheel drive, there is a whining noise coming from the front axle area, and it won't go back into 2 wheel drive unless i stop and shut it off. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance

What yellow is asking is are you doing it on dry pavement or any type of hard surface. If you are 4wd is only for slippery type situations like sand, mud, snow, ice or a really wet pavement

My '02 4.7 does the same thing. I will eventually go back into 2wd though, but the noise is really annoying.

i got under it and cleaned the 10 pounds of dried mud out from around the transfer case, and all the plugs and stuff now it works perfect.
