Dave,
Just getting a carb to work on the engine isn't going to do you any good. The vehicle has a computer regardless. You swap the TB out for a carb and other issues/problems will crop up really ugly for you. Even to the point of spending much money.
On all of the Chrysler vehicles made for some time now, you can easily check the compute engine codes without the need to find any dealer or service garage.
Just turn the key in the ignition from on/off three times without starting the engine. On the last key turn, leave the key to the on position. The "check engine" light will flash a sequence of times. Write down the number of flash sequences. Usually, these flashes are in groups of two. An end of code flashing is 55. That is, five quick flashes a pause and another five quick flashes.
Once you have those numbers, we can quickly tell you what the problem is and how to fix it. That's one of the best things Chrysler has for it's vehicles vs. the other domestic American vehicles.
We want to really help you at this problem, but your year has a computer regardless of wanting to swap in a carb.
