206 cams with sts turbo?

Hey fellas, been reading about the sts turbo, does anyone know if the 206 cams would work with turbo ,i know u must have the right cams to avoid problems with valves, sts says that in some cases it is better to run stock cams instead of performance cams because of duration,so was wondering if 206s would be good turbo cams. if not wat would be?

Thank,s The Cajun

I dont think STS makes a turbo kit specifically for the 4.7's yet.

I agree!!! There web site only has them for 03-06 Hemi. Unless I'm missing something!!!!
:D
I would look at some 224's that are made for the turbo. Krc sells them. Also anything above the 212 should be a good cam to run with them.

Andrew
YES you can run the 206 cams with the Turbo BUT it would not be optimal. You want a cam that has little overlap as you dont need overlap when running a turbo. This creates more cylinder pressure and less bleed off which makes more HP. So teh Ho's 206's & 212's are for NA moters... anything above that would be betterfor a blown engine. BUT dont forget if you go with a turbo you will need a stand alone PCM... So your looking at the cost of the PCM, Turbo & cams...

I here u man , + injectors i think 42s is recommended, was looking at the universal kit that sts has. hey air ram wat is a stand alone pcm and how would u rig 1 up and how much? im going to rig the turbo up for sure trying get in right direction ,any more info ?

Thanks, Fellas
I would think 42lb injector's on a 4.7L would be ALLOT of injector. I could be wrong though. Im sure someone knows what size would be needed.

Cajun the standalone PCM he is referring to is your truck's brain (basically) you may be able to use FAST system (http://www.fuelairspark.com) to replace your DCX PCM.

I am currently debating with myself on what I can do next for some real good/fast performance. I mean don't get me wrong my 4.7L will snap ya back off of the line but I think I want more now ... not sure if I want to build up what I have internally or build a swap-in motor???
I have been looking for a swap in engine to build... I have not found one at a reasonable price yet. I plan to add the Forged Crank, Low compression Pistons and H beam rods. It would be nice if we could get a stroker crank made.

i know wat u mean man, im trying to spend wisely first time with this motor, i think the turbo setup is i want from this engine , if it burns --or shall i say when it burns HEHE i will cross that bridge when i get there [LOL] I,ll be looking for something else or build a bad mofo thats why i want the turbo u can always rig it up on another truck, I want to stay with bolt-ons, i will do somemore research on this project, if yall read treads about this kind of setup let me know please.

thanks ,bros The Cajun
Just e-mailed STS WILL POST RESPONCE ,YA AIR RAM STROKER WOULD BE NICE

On the forums, we haven't been able to get an STS 4.7 guinea pig. LOL. With the smt6 piggyback pcm, 2 bar map sensor, and 8 injectors, that'll make a $4600 price tag on the STS hemi tuner kit and fuel management. kenihemi for the sts kit and srt10kllr for the fuel management. The hemi kit should work for a physical fitment. Now for the injector. What size (flow rating) is the stock 4.7 injector?
The only difference you would really need between the Hemi and the 4.7 is smaller injectors and different programming. The stock 4.7 is suppose to be 21lbs, but I heard more like 19lbs. The H.O. is closer to the 21lbs.

Andrew
Then I bet the 6.1 hemi injector will get a 4.7 through about 5psi of boost. Maybe more. I think a 36 to 39# would be pretty good with the 2 bar map setup and smt6.
Do we finally, finally have someone willing to get one working on a 4.7? I was really wanting to do this but could not afford to drop that much at once (yet) I am still saving my pennies and will be ready early next year (after winter season in MI).

What gains can be expected in a 4.7L as in numbers?
Is someone finally willing to take the plung? The Hemi kit with a smaller turbo and injectors would work. The 6.1 injectors are good for up to 450hp but if you need larger ones I can get them.

One advantage the 4.7 has over the 5.7 Hemi is the lack of electronic throttle.
I plan to do the job next year... Im saving up for the turbo kit and a stand alone engine management system.

As am I :D guess we'll race to see who gets it first ;)

There's an advantage?! ... wooot wooot
Thanks fellas lot of good info, i getting pumped about project man,sts e-mailed this guy said to stay stock unless i was creating a monster (LOL) FREAKENSTINE -about injectors does anybody know wat size i have for sure ? sorry guys im offshore in the gulf of mexico and dont have much time to get the answers for yall, ill e-mail sts and ask . get back soon

thanks again guy , will post soon
I emailed STS last year and they said the HEMI kit will bolt right up to the 4.7. and it would be best to keep the vehicle stock before the turbo intallation. I couldnt afford the turbo and a management system so I scrapped plans for it.

Sniper H.O has a similar setup on his Durango and gave me a wealth of information. I am sure that he could contribute quite a bit to this.
