Just digging around on the web and came across this article on the allpar website.

A small DCX-based or Cummins diesel engine in the 1500 line is possible for 2010 - (October 2006 update: Cummins confirmed a new light duty engine for Dodge, but production at Columbus is not set to start until 2010). A technology sharing agreement with GM should result in mild hybrids around 2007-2008, but the gain in efficiency is about the same as the MDS system - good but not great.
The Ram is due for a substantial revision for the 2008 or 2009 model year. Usually, the 1500 and the 2500/3500 are revised separately.

The name Dodge Ram Toolmaster has a trademark, along with the name "Sidegate: Name of door in pickup bed giving bed access." (thanks, Dan Minick) The sidegate is now revealed to be a minivan-style sliding door on the side of the cab, but we haven't seen it in production.

Dodge is now in the medium duty truck segment, jointly developing trucks with Sterling and Freightliner: the Dodge Chassis Cab and the Sterling Bullet. Click here for more details.

According to Automotive News, the Ram 1500 will get a new V8 Cummins turbodiesel with about 260-300 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. Gas mileage is likely to be about 20 mpg city, 25 highway (compared with the Hemi's 13/17). Acceleration is about 1 second longer 0-60 (9.6 seconds rather than 8.6 seconds) and is quite respectable even by car standards.

From the August Autoweek:

"A larger-displacement, Cummins-built diesel inline six offering more horsepower and torque than the 5.9-liter diesel inline six will be available in the 2007 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups.

Two other diesel engines are in Dodge's future. Cummins will provide a 4.2-liter V-6 and a 5.6-liter V-8. Both engines are scheduled for 2010. Preliminary specifications show the Dodge diesels rated at 190-hp for the V-6 and the 260-hp for the V-8."
