Did Dodge build a 2008 Dodge Ram SRT 6.1 HEMI ? Or did they use a different engine?

nope.......only hemi in the 08 is the 5.7, no SRT version

No SRT8 Ram from Dodge but you can swap motors.

There was talk of a 6.1L Ram 1500 being considered a few years back but gas prices hit the roof and the truck/SUV market tanked and that idea was squashed. With the current economic outlook and the dire straights being faced by ALL auto mfg's( it is not just the Big 3 as the news would have us believe )I would not look for it to happen. The 09 RT 5.7L is about the tops you will see IMO.

Not to hijak this thread, but Ramhemi03 in you sig you list a 6.1 intake. is that a 6.1 CAI, or the manifold or both?

That's a 6.1 intake manifold. But you might as well forget about that until you have done some serious motor work. Not just a couple bolt-ons and a cam either.
