2000 Durango engine oil recommendations

Hi,
I'm new here. I just acquired a 2000 Durango SLT (4.7L V8 w/ 108k miles) and I want to change the engine oil at home. I asked the seller which oil he used he said he always took it to the garage, so I am assuming he did not use syntetic oil. Can/should I use syntetic? or high mileage? the owners manual says I can use either 5W30 or 10W30. Any preferences on one over the other. I plan to change all the fluids (not sure how religious it was done before). Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Any good quality oil is fine. I prefer synthetic (5-30 in winter and 10-30 in warmer months). But you can also use 5-30 year round. You can also use 10-30 year round, as long as temps in your area don't drop below 0.
I use royal purple 5w 30. I have a 100,000 miles on my d .
