I have a 2000 Dakota Sport Clubcab 4WD 5-sp manual 3.9L V6. It recently began to have a problem with the ABS brakes. During normal braking on dry pavement, I get normal braking action down to the last 5 mph when the ABS system activates releasing the brakes. Sometimes pumping the brake pedal rapidly will reestablish normal braking. Other times, I stomp on the brake pedal resulting in a quick stop. The ABS light has not come on yet since this problem began. Took it to the local Dodge dealer and they were able to duplicate the problem with a road test. They said the diagnostic code indicated one of the "hub sensors" was bad, but did not show which sensor it was. The service rep estimated $400 to replace each hub sensor and $800 to replace the ABS computer. Thought I'd ask for ideas and advice in here first before I paid that kind of money. I am not very technically inclined, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
