I recently got a new wiper motor but my old one had a white bar on it that in the Chilton repair manual is called a intermittent wipe dwell switch. Does anyone know if that is the real name and/or where I could find one.

Did the delay work on the old motor (before failure) but not the new?

I did not have the vehicle before the old one failed but I have just hooked everything up with the new motor and realized it was a bad ground I had not that that part was defective. I just forgot to update this forum so sorry.

Even if it only gets seen by someone googling years from now - its awesome of you to get this info documented. Kudos friend.

I'm aware this is an old thread but I will post this anyway since the OP didn't get an answer. This is a 'Limit Resistor' for the wiper motor. In the 72-73 Parts manual it is PN 2822261 for B, D, & W series trucks. For your 77 ???
It sure resembles a ballast resistor..
