Well, I broke down an got some 1 piece Euro headlights. While I was at it, there is a steal on HIDs, so I got a set of those too.

Today I get them all together to install them. The HIDs are GREAT! They plug in, and work, NO PROBLEMS with them at all!

This 1 piece headlights on the other hand.... :VHOT:

So, to get the Driver Side Turn Signal Bulb in, I had to grind out the opening. They cast the headlights wrong, so the socket points down, not up. No real biggie IMHO, it's a modification. If it just bolts on, it's no fun! Haha

So here's some closeups... Next post I'll show the REAL problem! :VHOT:

those are nice is that a blue light in the corner . and how much did that set you back.
So, I figured, I installed new headlights, I'll have to aim them. Well, I haven't yet figured out how to aim these. This is the BIG problem. They are about 5 to 10 degrees TO HIGH! Here you can see the HUGE space between the hood and where the light hits the road. The truck is pointing DOWN towards that piece of concrete at about at 10 degree angle too! I tried shimmin the upper mount, got about 1 or 2 degrees outa that. Going to remove them and grind the lower mounts thinner (Going to epoxy them first, to make em thicker / stronger)

The lights themselves were like $170 shipped. If you don't mind some work, I think they'll be great lights. They appear to be designed solidly, just not perfectly.

The PLUG IN HID kit was $180 shipped. :rck:

There is no blue lights (well additional ones) Just the HID bulb
what do you mean by ''some work''
If you pull off your stock 'corner light' (The amber bulb light) you'll notice how the socket twists / locks into the housing. On the Drivers Side light, they molded this incorrectly, so inside of the wires pointing up (and fittin in the stock hole) they pointed downward. I simple cut out about a 1/2" strip of the hole in the fender to allow the wires clearance. Sounds a bit extreme, but with a dremel it took all of 3 minutes. Problem solved.

Still working on the AIM issue tho
Can you post a few more pics with the lights on from head on during the day and night and stuff. I just bought the headlights and was wondering about getting some hids too.
Yea, I'm tryin to get a hold of a decent camera. My Camera phone freaks out with the brightness and just makes a blob of color. :vhot:

But yet, specially once I get them aimed properly. I wonder if it's just my luck or what? Maybe my HIDs are different than a stock bulb? I might try puttin a stock 9007 back in there and see where it's aimed (Doesn't REALLY matter, I'm going to run the HIDs)
OK, I got them aimed. There is a screw, that's only accessable if you lower the bumper. Well, I got to it from underneath the truck and just cranked away at them. I love them. I am going to try and get ahold of my buddies digital tonight and see if I can get some good night shots!
Where did you find the HID kit? I would love to get one.

Introductory Offer I'm not sure how far he's willing to spread that offer. I'm an honorary member on DD.com so... Just Email him, he's a great guy, shipped quick and the product ROCKS!
man, you're gonna be killing oncoming traffic with those reflective housings. shoulda gone with a projector housing, i know they dont look right on the truck, but thats what hid's are supposed to go in. the headlights look like a good fit though.
Bah. Hubug, Cadillacs as well as Acura and Benz's all have vehicles without projector lenses. There are a many people w/o projectors with HIDs. Tis but a myth that you NEED a projector housing. I love my lights, and have followed a buddy for a 20 Mi trip, and never once did he complain about the HIDs.
Dang, my wifes gonna kill me for this one. I gotta have a set of these.

You also might want to look into these They inculde a high beam bulb, tho I hear it's worthless, but they have come down drastically on price over the past few weeks.
I love the way the your lights looked , so I order a pair for me. but the hids are abit of my price range for the moment so I will have to wait ?

I went with the chrome ones.

Will post pics when they reach...
Good post. I just got done posting on another site with questions regarding to HID headlights. A couple of questions. You stated that you might put your 9007 bulb back in? I just wrote a post on here about the part number for my headlight bulb (98 1500 4x4 QC) and was told my bulb is the 9004. Did they change bulbs in 99 (your sig)?
Also, does the HID kit work with factory headlight housings? And do you have any links to aftermarket headlight assemblies and more for the HID conversion? This is something that I plan do do before I drive in the dark too much more. Thanks. Very good write up and I'm glad it worked out for you.

This is true, there's no reason that an HID source and a parabolic reflector or compound reflector type can't be approved for OE manufacture. There are replacement kits of headlamps and light sources that are approved for a number of European vehicles to FMVSS standards. However NHTSA has been pointing out that headlamps that are approved for use with incandescent sources are not legal with HID conversions, and has been working on eliminating them from the market - here's one example. That's why the hundreds of sellers for these on ebay a few years ago have largely disappeared. Will you be stopped for having such a conversion fitted? Probably not, so long as the performance of the headlamps is something like the OE setup. Can you be certain that a given combination is compliant?

I just replyed to you thread. Best bet is to check what came stock in your lights, or, if you are upgrading, to get the new housings to make sure. My '95 Ram had 9004, my Dad's 98 had 9007s, as did my '99.

Yes, the HID kit will plug right into a stock headlight housing, no problems. The kit I have interestingly enough, will actually work for 9004/9007's both. It's got 'dual groves' so it fits in both housings. Kind of a cool idea. Since they don't have a 'filiment' exact placement isn't as crucial, thus they can get away with it.
