I know that there is probably a thread in here somewhere on this subject, but I couldnt find it, so Im going to ask anyway I have a 98 Ram 4x4 1500 sport, 5.9.......Ive got a chance to get the motor out of a 2005 Ram 4x4, 5.9....will it work is what I need to know.....

no the only 5.9 in 05 was the ctd. in 05 there was the 4.7 and 5.7. the 5.7 is the hemi.

thanks for the reply.....What is the ctd? It says 5.9 Magnum on the side of the truck just like mine !!

Well the 02-03 still had them in'em.

If it's the 3rd gen body style, then if it has a 5.9 GASSER it has to be an '02, or at the latest '03.

Yep, 5.9 gas stayed in until the 5.7 Hemi replaced it in 2003. Look at the valve covers, if they are black, with a total of 10 bolts I'd guess Magnum.
