I'm new to this vehicle and would like a little advice before proceeding. Here are the clues:

No heat
Temp guage works, temp rises beyond normal range and then fan kicks on.
Coolant full, in fact, contents under pressure even though radiator is ice cold when engine is fully hot.
Heater lines ice cold.

I'd like to take a look at the thermostat, but couldn't find a drain for the radiator???

Well, I'm new here but perplexed. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

I think your diagnosis of a bad thermostat is correct. There is a radiator drain on the passenger side, lower corner of radiator. The problem is the o-ring likes to tear when you remove it and replacement is usually the whole drain cock. It's actually easier to remove the lower radiator hose and let it drain from there. After the repair don't forget to "burp" it by ramping/jacking the front end and opening the cap. Let it run until hot and replace any low fluid until the radiator is full at the cap. Replace cap, remove jack/ramp, top the overflow tank, and you should be done.
