So I'm new to the dakota r/t world and have an issue with my tranny. A local dodge dealer said that my tourque converter and pump needs to be replaced and is what's causing the engine light to come on. Has this happened to anybody else. Now I have good mechanical sense and would rather fix it my self than pay $1500 bucks to get it done. My only issue is that every other tranny I've worked on have been straight mechanical and didnt have all the sensors and things. Changing the converter isn't a big issue but rather the pump. The book i have doesn' show the pump and thats got me a little worried. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :help:

What is the problem you are having, how many miles on the truck ect. I have a 99 R/T and about a year ago my check engine light came on,the RPM,s would run up pretty high before it would shift. It was the speed sensor located on the tailshaft driver side of the tranny???
