I put a new alternator in my van the other day, the battery is now charging but now the revs are super inconsistent and jumpy when it’s idling in park and it eventually stalls. And it stalls as soon as I put it in to drive.

I can get it to drive by getting the revs up a bit before I put it in to drive. But the revs are jumpy and it ends up stalling after 10 seconds or so. And there’s a bit of a rattling/banging sound.

I noticed a detached plug which I could have potentially knocked out when I was installing the alternator (pictures below) but I’m not sure what it is. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!
