I've a 401 V8 Jeep I would like to put an OD 727 TorqueFlite into.

What models/years did these Trannies come in ?

What are the Specifics on these Transmissions ? >
in comparison to the HEMI TorqueFlite which has
5 clutches/ steels - two 4 pinion Planateries / 5.0
Wide Band - HD Pump .

Were there two different models :

One Hydraulic / one Electric OD actuated ?

Any way to swap in the Hydraulic Valve Body
to get around using the Computer ?

Are Transfer cases able to be run on these ?

What models/years would have this ?

Any On-line Information Sites on the OD TorqueFlite
727 or 999 Based Transmissions - ?

Thanks in Advance !

Have a Great Trukin' New Year !

No direct fit for AMC pattern. Might be able to make it fit if JW Performance in florida has one of their Ultra Bell bellhousing is available. The v-10 and diesel would be the closest to hemi specs with the extra clutches and i believe 5 or 6 pinion gearsets then the 5.9 gas would be like the 340 or 440 clutch sets with it was either 4 or 5 pinion gearsets. Yes hyd or electric, hyd only requires 2 switches to control lockup and od, Jet performance has a package to do this if you want it to work by itself. The electric model, 96 and newer won't work. No, you can't change the valve body. You might contact Advance Adaptors in Paso Robles, Ca. and check for an adaptor to your existing case or use the 231 or 249 case that comes on those transmissions. 90 to 95 is your best bet. 90 to 93 had non lockup convertors on diesels and gas, 94 on has lockup so make sure you get the right convertor. Don't know of any info sites, check the local library for copies of mopar specific magazines from the last 10 years for info on transmissions.

A500/518/618 trannies - Thanks !

Bingo!

You've answered my question !

Thanks Carl - I'll start looking for
a 1994 - '95 Loc-Up A518 .

If you've good sources for a used
trans. or a places I should post-
all help appreciated!

This will be going into an AMC Eagle
& the starter will be on the wrong side
for this application - so that is more
'stuff'....... probably index off the trans.
pan rail & 'swap' bellhousings completely.

First need to find one of these reasonably -

Thanks again !

Trust you New Year will be fraught with Automotive Glee !
