I think he's referring to the instant mpg on the overhead. Just speculating though as I've been here for five years, owned my truck for over nine and only hit 18 (actually 17.9) on the hwy with 265s in the summer going 61mph without stops, hand calculated. Never heard or read of actual tank-to-tank city mpg that high. Again, just speculating. I would like to see the raw data.

I thought so. Whatever you do when quoting mileage on here, do not look at the overhead display.

Fill the truck up, reset tripmeter. Drive until light dings, fill back up. Divide how many miles by how many gallons.

How many times is this asked online? I'm not beating on you, just in general. I mean, don't schools teach anything useful anymore?

26 gallon gas tanks and No, schools don't teach anything remotely useful any more. That's why kids graduate and can't get jobs.

Ok thanks, I'll have to re-calculate mine next fill-up.

And amen to that, it's too bad I'm a terrible teacher, otherwise i'd homeschool my kids, whenever I get around to having some that is...

I have a 95 no such thing as a overhead display in my truck #1, #2 that’s how I do it fill my tank hit the mileage counter drive till I'm at a quarter of a tank fill it up to full tank then take the mileage off the counter and divide it by how many gallons I put in. Last fill I have right here drove 316.6 miles from full tank put in 17.250 so take 316.6 / 17.25 = 18.353623188 so that would be 18.3 to me. This is how my mom told me to do it and how online says to do it.

There has got to be something different in the older 2nd gen tuning because they seem to get more mileage and have more power than 98+ engines. Yours is not the first I've heard about getting better mileage in town. I had deathflash but hypertech got rid of that. Still a major dog, even when I just 265s on it. And Dodge supposedly bumped up the HP in 98. Yeah, right.

i would be so happy if i could get 18.

anything 15+ seems out of reach really, unless i keep revs under 1500 and get a mileage tune...
