Power steering

Hey guys!

Here’s my issue; I have a 2007 Dodge ram 1504.7 L V-8 with a 6 inch lift and 22R35s, two summers ago I put a new rack and Pinion arm on my truck, last summer I replaced my serpentine belt and my power steering pump which solved my leaking issue. However, now that we’ve hit spring again the problem is coming back. My power steering is leaking all over my concrete slab in front of my garage because my truck won’t fit in it and for the life of me I can’t figure out why it’s leaking again. Could this have to do with my lift and huge wheels putting more than the normal amount of pressure on the power steering maybe? It seems to be leaking from the reservoir not the rack and pinion arm. Just because I’m a chick doesn’t mean I don’t know my way around vehicles but seeings how I just put a new power steering pump on it last summer I am still confused as to why it’s leaking.

Thanks in advance!

If it's leaking from the pump, then you already know where its coming from.

Years ago, I changed the PS pump on my mom 1981 Chrysler. I used tranny fluid, which was common back then, and it leaked.
I drain it and put in power steering fluid, it stopped leaking and was fine.
Something to consider.

Thanks man! I probably wouldn’t have ever thought about that. I have always used ATF instead of power steering fluid in every vehicle I’ve owned. Well I suppose I’ll get some power steering fluid whenever this all leaks out and see if that solves the issue.

Side note I almost bought a window sticker that said “It’s not an oil leak, I’m sweating power..” but I couldn’t as neither would have been true the oil or power lol sad face it don’t have a hemi 😉
