New to dakotas... sway bar ?

Very recently bought a 92 2wd dakota sport. The drive home was not much fun due to body roll. Got to looking and it needs new shocks and probably springs all around. Also i noticed it does not have a sway bar at all. Is this norm? By the way it handled id like to think not but i didnt see any signs of having had one that may have been removed .

If it is in fact supposed to have one can someone post some pics so i can see how its all bolted up and can get a idea of what ill need to get. Also maybe a quick list of what years and vehicles parts can be pulled from. Thanx in advance.

Backwards - Depending on the body style and length, 87-96 but sub years for certain parts (i.e., the snout changed for 1991, so core support forward is different before 1991 or after 1990). Depending on the motor, the V6 is supposed to be an LA still for the 1992 model year, so 1988-1992; the V8 was the first year Magnum, so 1992+ for the 5.2. I have no idea on the 4 banger.

For the sway bar - it was an option, yes, but was standard on certain option packs.

Best would be to pick up a factory service manual, but a diagram showing the front sway bar for a 1992 Dakota is at http://www.factorychryslerparts.com/...e/000005VY.jpg . Well, showing one end *grins*

Ok, thanx for your reply. Found some answers on other sites and have already completed a 5 lug swap, v8 throttle body, and got a sway bar installed.

I have a 1993 Dakota Sport. When I first got it in 1997 I almost lost control on the freeway (downhill, slightly off-camber sweeper at the bottom, 65mph). I took it to my suspension guy for a look-see. I couldn't believe it didn't have a front bar; after all, it's a "sport", right? So, a j/y bar, 2" lowering blocks on the rear and 2" off the front springs later it handled like a Miata. I'm just now retiring it for a 2011 Dakota 2wd. I came to this forum for the same mods again. I really need to get it closer to the ground!
