Trans fluid change

Hi guys, question about an 05 Dakota with the 4.7, is it too late to change the trans fluid with 88,000 miles on it without changing the fluid before.do you think it will cause more harm to do it now.
There is no problems with the trans at this point.

Thanks
Paul

I'd change it if it was my situation, and there will be opinions to do it or not. If the fluid is dark brown or black, and smells burnt, then the decision gets to be more difficult. If you do, be sure to replace both filters (Yes, two filters) with OEM filters. Aftermarket filters can make the transmission act funny, and not in a good way.

Just use ATF+4 Trasmission fluid only, and Mopar should be the first brand of choice.

According to my owners' manual, I'm a few thousand miles from the recommended transmission flush. I was thinking about trying the AMSOIL Signature Series Multi-Vehicle Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid (https://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-produ...?code=ATFQT-EA) or the Redline C+ ATF (https://www.redlineoil.com/c-atf).

Anyone have any experience with either in their 3d Gen Dakota?
