I have a 2003 Dodge 1500 Quad Cab w/ the 4.7 engine. Last week I noticed a ticking sound when I started the truck. After 5 minutes or so the sound appears to go away. My initial thought was it could be a lifter. Well today my engine light came on. I went and had the code read and it turned up to be a P0441. After doing some reading I've read that this could be a purge solenoid and sometimes the solenoid ticks when gone bad. Does anyone know if this is true? Would I still get the tick if it's just a cracked hose leading up to the purge solenoid? Thanks in advance for any help!
My '03 5.7 through this code after I changed my gas-cap to a locking one due to someone stealing my gas. Just saying thats what happened to me when I got this same code. Not sure if different engine matters.
Thanks for the reply bluefox. I've checked the gas cap and unfortunately that's not the problem. With the ticking I'm hearing I believe it's the purge solenoid but just not sure. Hopefully this weekend I'll have time to investigate it further.
