my auto parts guys had a bad repor w/ optima batteries. said half of them are replaced under 1yr warranty! most dont have peak power past 2 yrs. SO- i boosted my amperage the other way! 1600cca now. 2 batteries & a 200amp alternator. i used new parts from the diesel application. no problems in cold starts. no probs running extras. could prolly feed a plow or winch!
thanks for the chuckle fellas!

I have also heard alot of bad things about the optima batteries. I have personally never had one, but with the things people i know have said about them, i will pass.

Say what you will about Optima Batteries,I had a Blue top in my Boat sold the boat and it's been in my truck for 6 years. I have also been told a lot of them last for 10 years. They have a longer shelf life also.In fact I did a google search and really found only good things about them.I will buy another one if this one ever lets me down.

Ha Ha I hear ya. Optimas are not cheap. I like sealed batteries so I dont have to worry about corrosion. And if I flip my truck all that darn battery juice doesnt go everywhere! That last part was supposed to be funny :-)

I think many battery failures are the result of not being maintained properly.
Most of these so called maintenance free batteries aren't.
If the terminals are cleaned and water level checked and topped off with distilled water only every couple of months or so they will last a lot longer.
