A/C Help

I have a 1989 D150 with the 318.I have been working on my A/C bought a new clutch cut-off relay so the A/C compressor clutch will kick in.I have everything charged up to specs was getting cold air in the cab but now it blows warm i have checked for leaks found none. The compressor kicks on for about 6 seconds then kicks off.The gauge shows good in the green like between 35-45 psi when the compressor kicks on the pressure drops to 0 when the compressor kicks off the pressure in the green .I don,t know if this is normal or not.The other problem is where or how do you convert the old A/C low pressure switch to the one that you get at the parts store which reminds me of the oil pressure gauge for the oil sending light.I still have the original A/C low pressure switch the big tall one with the male end threads the parts store has the female end threads.Any help please this is driving me nuts.
