About to have to start looking...

Our 02 Grand Caravan has just about reached the end of its useful life. In addition to the 1 to 1-1/2 quarts of oil between oil changes and the multiple coolant leaks, we now have what I believe to be a strut-related "pop" in the front driver's wheel area. At 315,000 miles, it's been a good vehicle. My wife really disliked some of the issues that pre-existed when we bought it 275,000 miles back, but those issues have become minor inconveniences over time.

As much as she would like to think we don't "need" a minivan anymore, the reality is that it serves our school-football-playing, large dog-owning, DIY-remodeling family better than any SUV ever could. I'm probably going to have to start looking once I get my tax return.

My main question is this:

With the rear and middle seats stowed, are the interiors on the newer model vans still large enough to transport a few 4x8 sheets of plywood/drywall/etc. with the rear hatch closed? If that has changed in recent years, how far back would I have to go to get to the vans that can still do it?

I can justify sticking with the van for that reason only. Otherwise, I'm going to wind up buying something that meets all our other needs but have to beg friends in family to haul building materials for me.

Thanks,

Steve

Yes, the 2008 thru current Grand Caravans will fit 4 x 8 sheets with the hatch closed. The 2017 thru current Chrysler Pacifica vans will also.

2001 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport (3.3) 250,000+ miles
