Top radiator hose pressure, how much is normal?

On my 2003 Ram I recently bought I've a couple of instances when I've noticed coolant under the truck after parking overnight. Truck has passed a pressure test, and a block test with the chemical sniffer thing. I believe I've traced the source of the leak to hose that goes from the recovery bottle to ground. Anyway, I've always wondered why my top hose never had any pressure, but on a hunch I replaced the cap. No more leak, and the top hose is firm, not hard, but I can't squeeze it together and have the insides of the hose touch. So my question is, is this normal? I've never had a power tech engine before. I had 2 magnums, a cummins and a Hemi, but i've always managed to avoid the 4.7L. Truck runs normal, doesn't overheat. I guess I'm just paranoid after reading the horror stories of 4.7L blowing head gaskets.

Any help would be great.
