I owned 3 Cummins in my life and hated them. I will never own a diesel again

I've waffled back and forth about getting a 'dream truck CTD' for years. But whenever I test drive them, there's no sparks. I keep coming back to my 99 V8 with a stick shift. Rare truck and it fits me perfectly. Besides, any newer truck is going to have the same costs and rebuilds as yours in time, save maybe the Cummins but it depends how it was maintained. Out west, they are still gold and appreciating. Can't touch a used 3rd gen for under 25k or a used 4th gen for under 35k. Used 2nd gens are up over 20k with clean trucks in the upper 20s. It's ridiculous.

I spent insurance money this year on repairing my truck (it was broken into) and that included steering, clutch, engine work, and some interior stuff. She runs great, starts every day, and I still love it. You can see the mileage I have and believe me, if Dodge ever made a truck as good looking or as reliable as my 99, I would have it. Nothing has made me want to plunk down stupid money on another one. So 15 years of marriage and counting . . . Point is, if you love it, it will be cheaper in the long run to build what you want, then starting over with another used one.
