Build specs by serial numbers

Would anyone know where to get build specs for an older van that may have parts (rear axle assy ) I think it is a 1971 2500that will fit my 1995 B2500. This is the number I was given. 287HB21X2MK433408.
Any help would be appreciated Thanks Mr Bill

That's your VIN and the second character is a B not an 8, like this: 2B7HB21X2MK433408

If you take the VIN to a dealer they should be able to get you a full build sheet on it. In the meantime I found a VIN Decoder that gives this.

A '71 van probably has an 8Ύ... the bigger vans a Dana with 8-lug wheels...

The 8Ύ rears had a 4.5" stud pattern for 5-lug wheels, yours will be 5.5" I'd think.

Others will know better than me, but the 5-lug pattern changed some time in the late seventies.

Ok on my 95 extended 2500 hitop conversion I have 5 lug rims ( I think I am handicapped) and to make it worse I just had a hip replacement & am having # 2 the 28th. So I can't get a look at them from my window LOL

My point was that a '71 rear end will not fit your wheels.
