I am a chevy person, but I have owned and do own a Dodge/Plymouth, because they seem to be cheaper to buy used. anyway, I have had a 92 caravan, 2-95 neons, and now a 97 ram 1500 4X4. and the one thing that the dodges need are routine maintenance. I only had trans. prolems with the van, but had 240 thousand miles on it. The neons I left one stock, and put a stage 3 kit on the other and drove it for 180 thousand miles, then the cam broke. My truck has 167 thousand miles on it, and besides genral wearout items, has not given me any problems.
So. if you are having alot of problems with you'r dodge. maybee you got a lemon, or maybe your maintenance might not be what it is supost to be. And remember if you drive it hard you will have to pay.

I like my dodge and would never consider buying a jap truck, not unless they start selling them minitrucks here. They look a lot tougher than a JD gator.
Although I hear both nissan and toyota are coming out with 3/4ton trucks in the next couple of years. Lets hope toyota fixes the vibration problems with their frames, and the sludge problems with their engines. I will take a tps or plenum gasket problem anyday over an engine sludge problem. 93,000 miles on my 99 quadcab 4x4 and I have never had it back to the dealer for anything..... I have done ujoints, thermostat, and a headlight switch, it needs an evaporator and a tps. And its starting to get some rust on the lower edges of the doors.

Of course your truck is going to give you trouble some day, but look at the facts, you go wheeling in it, it drives you to work, you haul stuff that no small block jap truck would, and best of all, you squeeze a ram motor until you live it dry!! everyone is going to have to invest on his truck some day, its called maintenance!! so i advise you to get some grease in your hands, or just buy another truck! if its to much to handle dont drive it!

take a look at the toyota tundra forum.
http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forum...gallon-how-do/

there are plenty of guys with the v8 complaining they are only getting 13-15mpg.
The 2wd v6 regular cab tundra gets similar mpg as a 2wd v6 reg cab ram and it is a lighter smaller vehicle.

I am lucky 2 get 12/13 mpg in the city, and 15 on the highway with my 99 quadcab 4x4 5.2L, but it is, and certainly feels like a bigger truck. Dodge has about the worst mpg of the US designed trucks. GM/Chevy has the best with the 2007 coming out this summer supposedly going to be even better with DoD and other fuel saving features.

Sorry about the last post I was looking at 2 different threads at the same time..... Still go look at this post at a Toyota Tundra forum. You will generally find just as many guys with trouble with their rides as dodge guys.....
