Is the quad cab the 4 door? I have a 98 12v, back seat, but no rear doors. And now that I have the auto, I'm glad I got it. I've put maybe 100 bucks into performance, and the rest was all pump work, and even with the stock tranny slipping, my truck hauls.

Firts you guys should tell this young gun that 600rwhp is not going to be free and will come with a higher cost than a realistic outlook of 400rwhp.No matter what 2nd Gen truck,12v or 24v,to attain 600hp to the ground there is going to be cost and it does not matter if its a automatic or a stick.Cost will be a factor with either and you can about figure on spending another 10-15K above the intial truck cost to make the power correctly and keep the truck drivable.

Now,once you have gotten over that sticker shock its on to what type of motor do you want,12v or 24v.The best way to make that decision is like this, with a built 12v you have very little options to turn the power down for bad weather driving and about the only way is a valet switch. The 24v can be turned up or dwn at the flip of a switch or press of a button and makes bad weather driving a breeze compared to a 12v truck.I have a built 12v and end up using the 4wd alot in bad weather to keep it in line and drivable and that includes rain driving.

I am going to build a Common Rail or a 24v automatic truck for my next one as I want the better fuel injection and the ease of tuning with them.......Andy

P.S.-Here is my "Holy Grail" truck.I bought it in 99 with 12k on it and it now has 225k on it.
