Unhappy Need Help With Fault Code

I own a 2000 Ram 1500 (automatic transmission) Drove home from visiting family on the 25th. Stopped at a friend's place, and after stopping at a stop sign, the tranny stayed in 3rd gear for some reason, so I downshifted on the column and then put it back in drive. That fixed it for the last 3 blocks I had to drive. Upon leaving my friend's house, the check engine light was on from the time I started the truck until now. Since then, the tranny's been acting like it's about to crap out on me. It's been wanting to stay in lower gears, especially first.

Just checked the fault code by turning the ignition to the on position 3 times and I came up with P0720. I checked another forum (tried to link it but it wouldn't let me for some reason) and it lists the problem as this:

720 The Output Shaft Speed Sensor doesn't match the reported vehicle speed.

I'm hoping I just need a sensor and don't need to rebuild the tranny.

Any ideas or help on where to go from here would be greatly appreciated.
