That is also 1500 compared to 2500, not saying the 2500 hemi will be much more but I would imagine there is difference in price. I wish trucks were that cheap in this area of PA, there is no way you will find a 2005 ctd for 24k unless it has high mileage. You can't even find a 2005 1500 hemi for 17K either, unless once again it has a ton of miles.

That was actually a typo, It was the very same truck, 2500, with the same options but one with CTD the other with Hemi.

Yea, and if you go to Edmunds it's only a $2300 difference on trade-in. Edmunds, KBB, and the rest of them do not compare to what they are actually selling for. Maybe we should get together and I'll buy a diesel here, you buy a Hemi, and we'll swap and sell them!! We could make some money!!

I second that one, 2nd gens are going for 19k, at least that is what people are listing them for, if they are selling at that price is another story though.

That was trade-in not retail. I have a local dealer here with a 05 CTD SLT for $24K and a 05 Hemi SLT for $22k. Both 2500s with the basically the same options. The diesel has about 10K more miles but that ain't crap. I guess we just don't have as big a difference as other places.

Stepping up will always require initially a little bit more

You do need an additional 5 quarts of oil come change time, but at longer change intervals... every 7-10K miles (10k in some cases). At about $2.80 per quart(Rotella), or $2.95 (Delo), or by the gallon $8.90 (Rotella), $9.05 (delo). It comes out to about $15 extra if you choose to purchase those five extra quarts individually. If purchased by the gallon, roughly $30 all together. Also, dealerships (i know, voodoo to even mention ) are always offering discounts for diesel oil changes done there.
If you were to invest another $175+ in an oil bypass system (amsoil, fs2500), your change intervals have just been significantly increased. I've seen some guys go 25k+ with these systems using synthetic. If you don't drive all that much, kinda comes out to changing your oil about once a year.

With fuel, over the past couple of years oil companies realized what direction trash fuel is heading and really decided to capitilize on it.... and that does suck immensely. Fortunately bio only costs about .70 cents to produce, and I just read a thread where in some places, pump bio is costing about a dollar less per gallon than dino.... here, that would put it less than unleaded per gallon.

Also, having the ability to get 20+ mpgs in a heavy truck is nice also. There are plenty of threads here talking about unsatisfactory mileage from gas.

Not trying to start anything with anyone.... just saying, that's all

I get employee pricing so they didn't jack my trade up to make the bottom line look good. I have a set price for buying. From the looks of that they want WAY too much for that Hemi.

That's my point, that's what they are going for here. It's not like this is the only one. Same with the CTD. I just don't see the CTD being twice as much as a Hemi because reality doesn't back that up, that's all.

Go to Autotrader.com Type in Dodge Ram 2500. Put any distance. The highest price one is 33K then there are a ton of them all the way down to the first Hemi is 27K. Then there are a bunch more CTD's then the next Hemi is at 24K. Then a bunch more CTD's then 22K for a Hemi. You don't start seeing any number of Hemi's till you get down to 20K and below and then you don't see any CTD's

I love my diesel,no questions asked-if I bought a car to worry about gas mileage with I would drive a metro- the diesel engine is twice the price of the hemi but easily twice the motor
