Smoke coming from Tire

A few days ago, after coming back from a drive of about 25 miles or so, I noticed a fair amount of smoke coming out of my left rear tire. I have a 2004 Grand Caravan SXT. After letting it cool, I took the tire off to inspect the brakes, caliper, rotor, etc... The rotor will turn easily enough and the brakes still work. The rotor is quite rusty, but that in itself hasn't been a problem. My question is, what could be causing the smoke? I didn't take the caliper off once I knew the brakes were still working. Could it be a clogged up brake line? To my knowledge, that hasn't been replaced.

It has over 148K miles.

In order for there to be smoke, something has to be really hot. You need to figure out what that is. The obvious thing is the brake rotor, but unless something is getting oil or grease on them, they shouldn't be smoking. If your caliper leaked fluid, I suppose it might get on there and smoke off.
