'05 GC - Replacement Key FOB - brutally expensive??

Hi!

We have a '05 Dodge Grand Caravan that I lost one of two key (with built-in FOB). I lost it because my lanyard broke for some crappy reason. I went to the dealer to price out a replacement... $300+ is crazy!

We do have an after-market remote car starter installed on the vehicle... is there some type of cheaper workaround I could do to get a replacement key/FOB?

Just inquiring, I'm hopeful we don't have to bite the bullet on this one...

What kind of remote start do you have? Most of them can be upgraded to include all the unlock lock options. Otherwise buy one from amazon or ebay and have it programmed.

You could check around, some dealers are a little cheaper, but the fobs are around $250. You could try a locksmith, they may have slightly better prices if they have the subscription to get Chrysler tokens.

You can program a new key fob remote if you have one. There are cheap options on eBay (shorturl.at/fqFMN)

You cannot program the key this way on an '05 if you only have one working key, and this method does not work at all after 2008. You need two working keys. Also, if you're going to buy a blank fob, make sure it's the actual OEM brand, and not one of the cheap copies, which are known to have problems.
