B2500 VS B3500 Rear leaf Springs

I had my 97 Dodge B2500 converted to 4 wheel drive with the parts from a basket case donor 96 B2500 4x4 Quigley van. We had to put new coil springs up front as the ones from the donor were too rusty. We put the 4 inch blocks from the Quigley in the rear and kept my 1997 leaf springs. Now the vehicle sits higher in the front. I am also now needing to tow a covered race car trailer. My rear suspension just can't handle it. I got the idea to put B3500 1 ton springs in the rear. They would be new, have more arch and a thicker (increased leaves) spring pack, based on the specs from SDTrucksprings.com. I 'm thinking that I would be able to kill 2 birds with one stone in leveling the vehicle and adding increased tongue capacity. They look to be the same length, based on the web sites numbers. Will they work. Any comments?

It's hard to really say. Did you go ahead with your plan?

Some of the B2500 models had a HD rear suspension. These are the type with the 8-lug rims. The B2500 with the 5-lug rims got the standard rear suspension.

97 is a very odd year. It was a change over model year too. Thus, some late 97s were more of a 98 version. 98 thru 2003 were the BEST years for these vans.

I just did this with my B1500 w/HD suspension
I replaced both the coils and leafs. As far as I can tell, you can put what you want on there as long as you have the U bolt and shackels to fit it. Also the length from the center to the eylets on the ends of the leaf need to match up.
I went with one more leaf in the rear. I was actually an overload spring so it the only thing that changed was the U bolt lenght. It raised me about an inch in the rear. If you were to, say, go from 5 leafs to 6 you will probably need new shackels.
After almost 180k miles they were shot. The van drives so much better in every way.
Get em! They make the new leafs here in Dubois PA

Was there any interference between the mid ship mounted gas tank and the transfer case? Or any other interference with the 4x4 swap? Did you add a new crossmember behind the front bumper?
