HI guys..My 1992 b350,went dead..(last year pre-magnum for 5.9),just cranks..eng. light flickers and clicks like a machine gun...I traced a click to the asd relay, replaced it..she starts..later she dies again randomly could be 10 min. or an hour..sometimes I can pump the hell out of it and she'll start..thought fuel pump..but I am getting plenty of fuel when no start occurs..no ign..thinking maybe the ecm is bad..what do you think. there's a new coil, asd relay, dist. pickup...gettin me angry..Thanks

Technically they're supposed to last indenfinitely, but ECM's are just like any other computer they just burn out sometimes.

I would swap in another computer. You might find a used one but it might also have problems. www.car-part.com
Depending on the part# of the one you have, you may be able to find a rebuilt one but from what I see, some of the computers listed to your van are only available if you remove yours and send it in to be rebuilt.
What's the part number on your computer?

Sometimes a bad ECM will not communicate with a scanner.

yeah I was afraid of that...guess I'll just install a rebuilt ecm, and hope I don't get stranded..It's ironic.. I have both a new ford and a new chev. van both 1 tons, but I rather be in my old dodge any day of the week

As Dodgevanman points out, it may not communicate. I have only heard of a few early vintage Chrysler computers that actually posted a controller failure error that could be scanned. Most normally a driver circuit goes out or capaciters might leak and cause board damage. This is OBD1 diagnostics which WAS state of the art, when art was old! The error codes were generic in nature and indicated a complete circuit that might be causing a problem, it is the job of the tech to eliminate all of the hardware in that circuit and if it's ok, then replace the computer.

Rebuild part# 79-7158(A1 Cardone Rebuilder)

www.rockauto.com might be your cheapest route after all is said and done.
