Hi, I have a 94 spirit that won't start. It rolls over fine but no spark. The fuel pump doesn't work either. I have replaced the coil, auto shut down relay, and the computer with a salvage yard part. The haynes manual is very vague on testing procedures but I can take a test light and put it from battery ground to the blue wire on what I beleive is the asd relay and the fuel pump will fire. It will also fire if I put a jumper wire across the fuel pump relay. I cannot however get juice to the coil no matter what I try. I don't have a factory wiring diagram and the one in my manual doens't seem to match what I'm seeing on the car. any ideas would be greatly apreciated.

ok inside the car their is a ground wire that runs inside the car under the carpet on the front drivers side under the dash. it goes to the fuel pump and the dash and if you do not get a good connection on it then it will mess up alot of different things.

Hmm... Have you checked the HEP? Those die ALL the time in these vehicles....

Additionally, have you tried pulling codes? (Key goes On-Off-On-Off-On, watch for flashing CHECK ENGINE light)?

ok so then the wire that is going to the coil is not even getting juice. also the fuel pump is not getting juice. if that is the case i would check the wires that are coming into the autoshutdown relay and make sure they get juice when the car is first turned on. if not then you know it is farther back in the wiring.

ok, I'm working with a bad wiring diagram. the large blue wire has juice to it, also the 2 red with white wires have juice with the ignition on. do you know what side of the computer the asd relay is on?

well if i remember right, when you are standing in front of the car the battery is on the right side and so is the computer. the first little box behind the battery should be the asd relay.

yes, but does the juice flow from the asd to the coil or into the computer? Also what is the HEP?

HEP stands for Hall Effect Pickup... it's the sensor underneath the distributor that helps in determining timing... Although if you're getting no juice further up the line, that's probably not it...

On the other hand, if you're not getting ANY check engine light, the bulb for it may be burned out... when you turn the key to ON does it even light up? If not, that sucks... DCX's key-turning trick to get codes is a HUGE help when it comes to diagnosing a car

I'm not getting a check engine light at all. I thought it might be connected to my problem. Maybe not? the haynes manual says this car uses a photo-electric sensor in the distributor. Any idea how to test the auto shut down relay off the car? I can jump a wire from the power input for the asd relay to the output going to the coil and I get juice at the coil. so I'm starting to suspect that I got a bad one from my dodge dealer.

well i would go ahead and pop the dash out and make sure their is a bulb in the socket for the check engine light. you are probably getting codes but may not be able to see them.
